Franca Marquardt is an anthropologist and documentary filmmaker who seeks to combine visual experimentation with research to support social change. She is currently a PhD candidate in Sociology and Political Science at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Florence. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Anthropology from Goldsmiths, University of London, and a Master’s degree in Anthropology from the University of Leipzig. Her doctoral project explores emotions and visuality within the internationalist movement in Germany, with a focus on the mobilisations for Palestine. She is also the editor of the ethnographic storytelling magazine ‘Thirdshelf’.
